Dear Friends,
What a great year it has been for Timber Pointe Outdoor Center! Summer 2025 camp sessions met the needs of over 700 campers with disabilities and special needs. In addition, hundreds more participated in “off season” specialized, adapted and inclusive camping, respite weekends, family camps and facility hosted events.
Timber Pointe Outdoor Center continuously evolves to become the premier provider in Illinois of specialized and adapted outdoor programs for individuals with disabilities and medical needs in a fun, safe and accessible environment. Over the past 29 years the Timber Pointe Charitable Foundation, our partners and donors have generated millions of dollars in resources and improvements to make this goal a reality.
In my last letter I shared the Foundation’s intention to address the growing need for family focused programming and support for those affected by disabilities and special needs by replacing a group of decades- old cabins with new fully accessible cabins complete with bathroom and shower facilities and designed to accommodate families and other camper groups. To date three old cabins have been demolished with new utilities and foundations in place. Above ground structures were prefabricated off site and will be transported to Timber Pointe with completion scheduled for late November.
During the past several months and through our partnership with Easterseals, significant upgrades have also been made to an additional old cabin and 75 year old lodge to enhance the capacity and quality of those facilities. The Foundation has also provided capital funding for equipment that will be used to maintain the roads, accessible trails and pathways...and there is still so much to be done. Our Board has committed to furnishing and equipping the new cabins and to moving ahead with plans to upgrade and replace additional aged facilities.
As we approach the season of Thanksgiving, we are so encouraged by the difference Timber Pointe Foundation is making in the lives of those served. We are grateful for the generosity and support of you, the donors and partners who join us in making the magic possible! Thank you!
