Dear Friends,
In the Winter 2024 letter I shared our three year initiative to expand the first phases of Timber Pointe Outdoor Center’s network of accessible paths and roadways had been successfully completed thanks to the support of our donors. With the initial goals realized, additional funds were allocated to extend the network of accessible trails and pathways to
remaining facilities and program areas. All work was completed just in time to be utilized by more than 1,800 campers and their families participating in 2024’s overnight, day camp, family camp and respite care sessions. Please go to Facebook and type in “Timber Pointe Foundation” or click on the QR codes below to watch two videos recently posted by the Outdoor Center’s staff providing a super fast tour of the most recent additions and “Livin’ Life at Timber Pointe 2024”.
In addition to the extended trails and pathways initiative, 2024 saw the launch of an effort to meet the growing need for family focused programming and supports for those affected by disabilities and special needs. Initially, plans to complete basic modification and renovations to a group of decades-old cabins to accommodate families yielded projected costs of
$260,000 - $300,000. However, as the Outdoor Center’s staff and administration worked with contractors to move the project forward, significant inadequacies were identified relating to the facility’s aging infrastructure doubling costs to just over $600,000 resulting in a funding shortfall of $300,000.
Following re-evaluation of needs, costs and benefits, Easterseals and the Timber Pointe Foundation Board have been able to source and commit an additional $150,000 knowing the benefits realized for decades to come warrant the commitment of additional funds. In addition, the Woods Foundation has challenged our Board to secure an additional $62,500
committed to this project in 2025 and again in 2026. If we are successful the Woods Foundation funds will match funds raised dollar for dollar.
With your support we will be able to meet the Woods Foundation challenge and allow plans to move ahead with construction.
We are very grateful for those who have supported the Timber Pointe Foundation’s mission in the past and look forward to partnering with you to continue enhancing the lives of those who so richly deserve our support.
